Apollo 10 Flown Heat-Shield Section in Lucite



Item Description:

This is an authentic piece of heatshield from the Apollo 10 Command Module 106 Charlie Brown.   These presentation peice circa 1970 was presented by NASA to prominent people associated with the mission at the time.  This lucite came from the estate of a former employee at the Johnson Space Center in Houston, Texas.  It measures 2.5 inches tall and 3 inches in diameter. 

The Apollo 10 Command module ownership was transferred to the Smithsonian Institution in April 1970 just prior to being shipped to Europe for a display tour in several countries including the USSR, France and the Netherlands.  In 1978 the spacecraft was placed on loan to the London Science Museum, where it has remained on public display since.
